Active Living Policy

Moving Matters is a home-grown, county-wide project of the Sawtooth Mountain Clinic and many local partners. We strive to create safe and accessible walking and biking routes for people of all ages and abilities. In efforts to reach this goal, Moving Matters started a policy-making effort in 2014. An Active Living Policy Committee was formed and met for the first time on January 2nd, 2014. As part of this Active Living Policy Process, the committee will meet monthly through May 2014.

Participating in this process are representatives from the County Board; Grand Marais City Council; Grand Portage Reservation Tribal Council, Trust Lands and Health Service/CTG; MN Department of Transportation (MnDOT); Cook County Highway Department; Grand Marais Parks Department; Cook County Planning and Zoning; Grand Marais Streets and Maintenance; Cook County Public Health and Human Services; Sawtooth Mountain Clinic; Birch Grove Foundation; Active Living Steering Committee, and the Moving Matters project.

Andy Hubley, Regional Planning Director for the Arrowhead Regional Development Commission (ARDC), is facilitating the conversation.
