We’ve added something special to this month’s Second Sunday Funday at Birch Grove School on January 12th. Moving Matters will be offering a hands-on activity called “Planning Thru Play.”
At 4:30 pm, join us for conversation and hands-on fun, followed by stone hearth pizza dinner. Moving Matters will provide pizza dinner for participants. Just bring your experiences with walking and biking in Cook County and a friend. All ages are welcome!
Seating is limited. RSVP on the Facebook event page or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday Jan. 10 to ensure your spot. Make an afternoon of it: starting at 3:30 there will be other indoor activities such as Card Making, Games, Zumba, and Open Gym.
What’s the single best thing we can do for our health?
What a great resolution for 2014 and for every day.
On December 17th, Moving Matters invited Cook County to share a meal and build their vision of a more walkable, bikeable Cook County. Twenty community members gathered for the “Planning Thru Play Potluck” at the Grand Marais Art Colony. Each person was asked to build their response to the question: “What does a walkable/bikeable community look like?” They were able to build on an 8.5 x 11 inch piece of paper with objects like Legos, small toys, found objects, and more. No drawing allowed! After building, each person had the opportunity to share their ideas and thoughts. Hear a few of these ideas by watching the video below:
Moving Matters is gathering community input and ideas about walking and biking in Cook County, through community events, survey, and conversations. Interesting in sharing your ideas and building a better Cook County? We’ll be hosting several more “Planning Thru Play” events in 2014, so stay tuned!
